Darin Kent is a traveled media consultant, technician and entrepreneur, owner of www.DarinKent.com, LLC. Darin was elected the 2nd Chief Communications Officer of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and the 18th Editor in Chief of the Star of Zion. As a long time member of the A.M.E. Zion Church and ministry leader he has been afforded the opportunity to be a conduit of His power to share His presence to the masses via mass media and communications.

He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from DeVry Institute of Technology in 2003. The business acumen and entrepreneurial skills acquired in college gave him the foundation for what would inevitably become a multimedia services company operating nationwide for the past 15 years.

His career began as the Multimedia Director at the Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church. In this ministry Darin created commercials, public service announcements and weekly video announcements for the church. The multimedia ministry under his leadership set a standard for not only the church, but for the district and the denomination on how media should be conducted.

God saw fit to elevate his responsibilities by allowing him to provide multimedia services for several Lay Members, Pastors, Presiding Elders, and Bishops across our denomination. He has worked a combination of livestream, video, photography, website and social media services in some variation for Western, Eastern North Carolina, South Western Delta, Alabama – Florida, Mid-Atlantic and the North-Eastern Episcopal Districts within the A.M.E. Zion Church.

Outside of our denomination he has built strategic relationships with an array of organizations. These organizations include The PanaGora Conference (a pharmaceutical company), “Do it for the Culture” (a Google event) and the prestigious Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference to name a few. His company has consulted and operated on everything from Marketing & Branding via website and social media to directing top level executives to the best products for Audio/Visual and Video Equipment.

He has also been challenged to lead ministry teams on numerous occasions for various churches and districts. His immediate past position as the Mid-Atlantic Episcopal District Communications Director, required him to communicate one media vision to the entire District. Darin had to conduct Bi-Monthly meetings with leadership, managed multiple operating budgets and trained members interested in communications. By exemplifying trust and confidence in the members’ abilities, Darin was able to tap into their gifts and abilities within the district which allowed them to flourish.

Darin is married to the lovely Nina Kent and has two daughters, Mackenzie and Maia Kent. He is the third child of John L. Kent (Deceased) and Elizabeth Kent. His two siblings are Valerie Kent and Warren Kent. His family is what gives him a sense of completion that is hard to express in words.

Darin’s belief in Him gives him the desire to do everything he does in excellence. Normality for him is going above and beyond and doing more than what is expected. It’s normal to arrive a day before to setup a livestream and staying up all night to get a communications protocol correct. It’s normal to work tirelessly providing consultation to lay members and Pastors across our denomination on how to use best communications practices to showcase the most influential aspects of what we do for Christ. Darin appreciates the opportunity to serve His God and his Zion family.
