Board of Bishops call on Zionites worldwide to Help support the Haiti Crisis efforts. Give Today. |
|
|
The Board of Bishops of the A. M. E. Zion Church has sent out a request of all of the congregations in the denomination to respond to provide relief to the earthquake victims of Haiti. For the next 30 days, each congregation has been asked to send financial contributions to the denomination's CFO, Mrs. Shirley Welch - P. O. Box 26770, Charlotte, NC 28221. Checks should be made payable to the A. M. E. Zion Church - Haiti Relief Fund. For convenience and quick response to this crisis, the Board has also provided for members and visitors to contribute via technology online here. This method provides fast and secure assistance online real time.
Bishop Warren M. Brown, President of the Board of Bishops emphasizes the importance of approaching this drive in an organized, practical and productive manner. According to recent news reports, Haiti is in a chaotic state as a result of the earthquake, looting, impatience and anger coupled with the way relief efforts are entering the country. Food, water and supplies are not reaching many of the victims of the earthquake. However, in order to assure proper support, the funds from the drive will be made available to the A. M. E. Church and the C. M. E. Church officials who have established ministries in Haiti. Additional funds will be given to Church World Service who serves along with the National Council of Churches and has an established history of giving to situations such as the crisis in Haiti.
In His Service and By His Grace,
AME Zion Board of Bishops
