Education

• Bachelor of Science Degree with Distinction in Home Economics from Mississippi State University

• Master of Religious Education Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary

• Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Livingstone College/Hood Theological Seminary, 1996

• Numerous workshops and training institutes on the local church, district, conference regional, Episcopal District and ecumenical levels


Service

• Served as Editor of Church School Literature for the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church since 1980. Editor Love has guided the development of curriculum resources used in Sunday Schools across the A. M. E. Zion Church and brought many innovations to the ministry. She is an avid writer with a love and commitment to providing resources to enable persons to learn and grow in the Christian faith in creative ways. Teaching is her calling.

• A call from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina to serve as Assistant Professor of Christian Education caused this Batesville, Mississippi native to relocate to the Carolinas. This position was held from 1976-1984. She returned to Hood to teach in 1996 as Adjunct Professor of Christian Education.

• Member of Greenville Memorial A. M. E. Zion Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she serves as a Sunday School teacher, Announcer and Co-Director of Christian Education


Mission

The mission of the Department of Church School Literature (CSL) is to develop curriculum resources for use by members of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church for the purpose of Christian nurture, and spiritual growth and enrichment.

Responsiblities

• CSL develops one 52 page quarterly (The Beginner), two 48 page quarterlies (The Primary and Junior Quarterlies), one 40 page quarterly (The Intermediate-Senior Quarterly), one 80 page quarterly (The Young People-Adult Quarterly) and The Church School Herald-Journal (48 pages). The Young Adult Impact was added in 2006 as a 40 page resource designed by and for young adults. Previously, CSL has developed three supple¬mental coloring/activity resources for children.

• The Editor travels, leads workshops, responds to inquires for information and resources, and participates in ecumenical partnerships related to Christian education and curriculum development such as the Committee on the Uniform Series of the NCC

• Reporting on the work of office of Church School Literature is done annually to the Board of Christian Education, Publications Board, and The Connectional Council. A semi-annual report is given to the Board of Bishops in February. A quadrennial report is presented to the General Conference.
